Hanagan eyes Sunday return

Paul Hanagan could return to action on Sunday after relinquishing his rides on Saturday due to illness.

Hanagan, who is currently at the summit of the Flat jockeys' championship, has developed a sickness bug.

The in-form pilot had five mounts at Haydock and six rides at Ayr's evening meeting, but may be poised for a swift comeback at Redcar on Sunday.

His agent, Richard Hale, said: "Every since he came back from Musselburgh on Friday he's been struggling and cannot stop vomiting.

"Hopefully it will be one of those 24-hour bugs and he'll be back at Redcar on Sunday."

Hanagan is odds-on to win the jockeys' championship, having added to his impressive haul with a four-timer at Musselburgh on Friday.
