Finjaan on course for Betfair repeat

Finjaan will bid for back-to-back successes in the Betfair Cup at Glorious Goodwood next week.

Marcus Tregoning's four-year-old also won the Molecomb Stake at the track as a juvenile but has not been seen since finishing eighth in Dubai.

"Finjaan is on course for the Betfair Cup and he is in good form at the moment," said Tregoning.

"It's the race that we have had in mind for him for some time and hopefully he will go to Goodwood in as good a form as last year, which will give him a decent chance.

"It was a long journey out to Dubai with him and, while he came out the race fine, I didn't want to run him very quickly afterwards and it seemed obvious to bring him back for the Betfair Cup.

"He goes there without a penalty and he won the race after a break last year, so we don't have too many concerns.

"He is one of these horses who is very effective over seven furlongs.

"We ran him over six furlongs at Haydock last season but the ground went against him and he wasn't right after the race.

"I am more likely to consider stepping him up to a mile at some point, but we will see how he gets on next week before making any further decisions."

Also entered are Lord Shanakill, Premio Loco, Dalghar and Main Aim among the 19.
