Although conditions at the County Durham venue are racaeble at present, the forecast of frost overnight has prompted clerk of the course Charlie Moore to take a look on the morning of racing.

Moore said: "We are fine at the moment and we only had a couple of millimetres of rain overnight.

"It's a bit of a dull morning but the cloud is going to clear away later on and we are forecast temperatures of between minus 1C and minus 5C tonight.

"We have frost protection down in the relevant areas and remain confident of racing, but we'll just have to see how cold it gets."
