King reappears at Donny

Kalahari King heads a final field of 15 runners for the Blue Square Handicap Chase at Doncaster on Saturday.

Ferdy Murphy’s eight-year-old makes his seasonal reappearance in the competitive handicap having been narrowly beaten in last season’s Arkle Trophy before going on to win a Grade One at Aintree.

Murphy is also represented by Beggars Cap, while champion trainer Paul Nicholls has two leading chances with Free World and last year’s winner I’msingingtheblues.

With ante-post favourite Oh Crick an expected absentee, his trainer Alan King instead relies on Tarotino, who makes his first appearance since disappointing in Cheltenham’s Paddy Power Gold Cup in November.

Howard Johnson runs both Santa’s Son and Lennon, Leo’s Lucky Star is an interesting contender for David Pipe and Tartak drops in trip after running creditably in the King George VI Chase at Kempton on Boxing Day.

Moon Over Miami, Andreas, Doctor David, Pepsyrock, Lorient Express and Oiseau De Nuit complete the line-up.

Fix The Rib and Nomecheki will not take their chance.
