Fontwell called off
Saturday’s provisional meeting at Fontwell has been abandoned due to heavy snow.
The British Horseracing Authority confirmed plans to add a fixture at the track on Tuesday and officials there were hopeful of racing.
However, heavy overnight snow has put paid to the plan.
Clerk of the course Ed Arkell said: “We were forecast between two to four centimetres of snow yet we actually got three inches.
“That means any chance we had of racing on Saturday is now non-existent and we’ve had to pull the plug unfortunately.
“We are really disappointed. At 6pm last night we had a good chance as a thaw was in place and we were clearing everything around the course. This snow has left us with no hope though.”
