Saturday’s National Hunt meeting at Sedgefield has been abandoned after a midday inspection was brought forward.

Clerk of the course Charlie Moore had announced an inspection earlier in the week due to an adverse forecast.

With more snow falling on Tuesday night, and freezing temperatures forecast for the foreseeable future, a decision was taken to draw stumps early.

“We’ve abandoned, it was one of our more straightforward decisions,” said Moore.

“We’ve currently got up to six inches of snow on the track and more is forecast.

“Our next fixture is January 26 so we are hoping for a thaw before then.”
