Grim outlook at Sedgefield

Sedgefield's meeting on Saturday is already under serious threat due to snow and frost, with an inspection called for noon tomorrow.

Freezing temperatures over the past few days have left the course frozen and it is now under three inches of snow - with more forecast.

Clerk of the course Charlie Moore said: "We'll inspect at noon tomorrow.

"I've had the British Horseracing Authority course inspectors approval to look that early.

"It's currently snowing here with three inches on the track and more forecast.

"Prospects are bleak but miracles have happened, especially around Christmas time!"
