Ayr meeting faces bleak outlook
Prospects of racing at Ayr on Saturday look bleak as the track has been frozen for over two weeks.
Officials have called a 1pm inspection for Wednesday and unless there is a significant improvement in the forecast, an early decision looks likely.
āWeāve called the 1pm inspection for tomorrow purely because of the forecast weāve been given,ā said clerk of the course Hazel Peplinski.
āWe think itās only fair that we give people as much notice as possible but we havenāt seen any significant improvement in conditions since December 12 and weāve been frozen since then.
āIt would take two days to thaw the track properly and it is due to get colder still this weekend with minus eight forecast.
āItās a real shame because the entries were good and so were the ticket sales.ā
