Miller set to skip Tolworth

Nicky Henderson’s General Miller is unlikely to put his unbeaten record on the line in Saturday’s Blue Square Tolworth Hurdle at Sandown.

Nicky Henderson’s General Miller is unlikely to put his unbeaten record on the line in Saturday’s Blue Square Tolworth Hurdle at Sandown.

The Karinga Bay gelding made a big impression when winning bumpers at Kempton and Perth in the spring and got the better of the highly-touted Ghizao on his hurdling debut at Cheltenham earlier this month.

The latter could line up in Saturday’s Grade One contest but his conqueror, as short as 14-1 for the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle, looks set to head to Taunton on January 11 instead.

Owner Henry Ponsonby said: “I don’t think he’s going to run at the weekend and Nicky has found a nice race at Taunton for him instead.

“We have beaten Ghizao once and there is every chance we’ll meet him again at the Cheltenham Festival, so what’s the point in running against him again this weekend?

“He’s in very good order and all being well we’ll see him out at Taunton on January 11.”
