Chepstow have called a precautionary inspection for 8am ahead of Monday’s Coral Welsh National card.

Although the track is raceable at present, clerk of the course Tim Long felt it prudent to take a look on raceday morning due to the threat of overnight frost.

He said: “We had 14 millimetres of rain overnight which was a bit of a surprise but we are raceable at present, although the ground is heavy, soft in places.

“It’s forecast to be dry today and tomorrow but we will have a precautionary inspection as the forecast is for minus one or two overnight with fog early in the morning.

“We are going to sheet any areas that we consider vulnerable and we remain optimistic we should be fine.”
