Bangor abandon chase races
Officials at Bangor have been forced to abandon the chases at their next two meetings after the River Dee burst its banks last month.
The two fixtures scheduled for December 16 and December 22 will now be all hurdle affairs but clerk of the course Ed Gretton is hoping the chase track will be back in action early next year.
“We had massive flooding at the track on November 19 after the banks of the river burst and as a result, we have a large amount of silt on the course,” said Gretton.
“We can scrape it off the hurdle course but the chase track is going to be unraceable for the next two meetings.
“Hopefully we’ll be able to have chases in January but if not, it will be February.”
