Lahaleeb changes hands

Jockey John Egan was the front man for a seven-figure deal which secured recent Group One winner Lahaleeb at the Tattersalls December Mares Sale.

The former Mick Channon inmate was only beaten a quarter of a length in the Irish 1000 Guineas and capped off a busy campaign by striking at the highest level in Canada last month.

Egan confirmed the daughter of Redback would again be on her travels after the hammer came down at 1million guineas, but the Irishman was keeping the new owner’s identity close to his chest.

Egan said: “She is a lovely filly and has been competing at the highest level.

“I have been watching her this season and have liked her a lot.

“I think the trip she won over the other day (10 furlongs) is ideal and she has races around the world open to her.

“We will cherry-pick some races for her and she could race in Dubai next spring.”
