Spencer misses Saturday mounts

Jamie Spencer will not be taking up any of his rides at Newbury this afternoon after suffering a slight injury.

The joint-champion jockey was booked for six rides at the Berkshire venue but having hurt his back when riding out this morning, he will now be on the sidelines.

Spencer’s agent Andrew Sheret said: “He’s not going to ride today as he has just slightly hurt his back when riding out.

“He will have to see how he feels later on before deciding whether he’ll be back tomorrow. We haven’t got that far yet.”

Spencer is booked to ride Les Fazzani in the Group One Premio Lydia Tesio Shadwell at Capanelle in Italy on Sunday.
