Palmito takes Ffos prize

Palmito ran rings around her rivals to land the Haven Crane And Plant Hire Mares' "National Hunt" Maiden Hurdle at a damp Ffos Las.

There was little to recommend about Nigel Twiston-Davies grey on known form as she had not shown a great deal in her two starts last term.

But as a Paddy Brennan-ridden 8-1 shot, she bounded off from the start and survived to the post six lengths clear of A Haon A Do - despite looking tired towards the end. Aohna, the 4-7 favourite, was third.

Brennan said: "That's my first winner at Ffos Las. It wasn't a great race but she got her own way in front and we'll enjoy this one."
