Racy routs rivals at Pontefract
Red-hot favourite Racy won the opening EBF Poppin Lane Maiden Stakes at Pontefract today under a hands-and-heels ride by champion jockey Ryan Moore.
Sent off the 4-11 market leader, the Michael Stoute-trained juvenile was to the fore throughout and easily pulled clear of his rivals in the final furlong and a half.
The unfancied Kevin Ryan runner Antarctic Desert ran on into second but the gap at the line was an ever-increasing five lengths.
John Marsh, representing owners the Cheveley Park Stud, said: "He's done quite a bit of work at home. He's grown up a lot.
"He'll be a sprinter - he's like his mother."
Moore made it a double on evens favourite In The Slips in the Best Horse Racing Sky Channel 432 Fillies' Nursery.
In a reverse of his strategy in the preceding race, Moore kept Paul Cole's In The Slips to the rear of the field and was one of the first to come off the bridle as they approached the home straight.
Moore kept his mount up to her task, however, and steamed past down the outside to forge two and a half lengths clear of a labouring field headed by Calatrava Cape.
Go Go Green (9-1) led from start to finish to land the five-furlong Trinidad & Tobago Day On 5th October Handicap.
Trained by David Brown, who also saddled Spiritofthewest to finish fifth, Go Go Green reaped the benefits of a positive ride from Frederik Tylicki.
He kept the three-year-old at the head of the field and found plenty for pressure to hold the challenge of King Of Swords by half a length.
Brown said: "I thought he would come right, we just had to get some weight on him.
"He's done it well."
Laaheb landed a facile victory for Richard Hills and Michael Jarvis in the Dalby Screw-Driver Handicap.
Hills was happy to assume pace-making duties in a depleted four-runner field and started to up the pace on the turn to the home straight.
None of them could match the 11-10 favourite and he went clear with the minimum of fuss, leaving Mark Johnston's William Blake four lengths adrift in second.
