Owners hoping for Champagne sparkle
Champagnelifestyle will aim to give her connections one last hurrah before the end of the season.
The unbeaten juvenile has a stack of prestigious entries and the current preference is for her to tackle Saturday’s Meon Valley Stud Fillies’ Mile, although she will need some cut in the ground at Ascot.
Champagnelifestyle is owned by Betfair Club ROA, a syndicate of the Racehorse Owners Association designed for people aged 18-32 to get a taste of racing.
But the club’s sponsorship agreement runs out on October 31 and she and the other four horses, including old stager Cornus, will then be running in other colours.
Champagnelifestyle, who is trained by Barry Hills, won her only start at Newmarket in mid-July.
The club’s manager Daniel Abraham said: “She won well on her debut but she needs softer ground. It’s good, good to firm in places at Ascot at the moment and that would be a slight concern.
“The Fillies’ Mile is definitely our preference and we don’t think it’s over-ambitious to be looking at it.
“But if the ground is looking too quick she is entered in the C L Weld Park Stakes at the Curragh on Sunday and also at Longchamp on Arc weekend in the Prix Marcel Boussac.
“We have about 200 members and as we are carrying on until the end of October, it would be very exciting for us to have a runner in a Group One.”
