Murtagh back at Dundalk
Johnny Murtagh is fit to ride at Dundalk on Tuesday after a nasty fall at the track on Sunday.
Riding Hurricane Alley for Willie Mullins, Murtagh’s mount clipped the heels of a horse in front and went crashing to the ground, bringing down Queen Althea in the process.
Murtagh was tended to immediately by paramedics and placed in a neck brace as a precaution but did walk back into the weighing room.
His agent, Eddie Byrne, said: “He’s absolutely perfect. He had a very good night’s sleep, he feels great this morning and he’ll be getting some physiotherapy treatment tomorrow before he rides at Dundalk.
“He’s fit to go there and everything is perfect.
“It was a nasty fall. He’s very lucky but the medical staff at Dundalk looked after him very well and he was able to walk from the medical centre back into the weighing room.”
Queen Althea’s rider Tim Carroll was unharmed in the incident.
