Easter added to Edward VII field
South Easter has been supplemented for the King Edward VII Stakes at Royal Ascot on Friday after missing the Investec Derby.
The Dee Stakes victor, trained by William Haggas, was withdrawn from the Epsom Classic due to a bout of coughing.
However, he is now set to seek compensation after connections paid £20,000 (€23,000) to add him to the field at the confirmation stage.
The Galileo colt is among 19 possibles for the Group Two contest, commonly known as the ‘Ascot Derby’.
Epsom Classic also-rans standing their ground are the John Gosden-trained Debussy (eighth), Aidan O’Brien’s Black Bear Island (10th) and Mick Channon’s Montaff (last).
O’Brien has left in a team of five from his Ballydoyle stable completed by Changingoftheguard, Drumbeat, Freemantle and Hail Caesar.
Other interesting acceptors include The Queen’s Free Agent, winner of the Chesham Stakes at the Royal meeting 12 months ago, Ed Dunlop’s Aqwaal and Mastery, owned by Godolphin.
