Sariska stepping up
Michael Bell’s promising Sariska is among a field of 10 for Wednesday’s Tattersalls Musidora Stakes at York.
An eyecatching winner of a Newmarket maiden on her debut, she suffered trouble in running when fourth on her seasonal return in the Fred Darling at Newbury.
After that connections decided to shelve plans to run in the Guineas and concentrate on the Investec Oaks instead.
“As soon as she started working we thought she looked pretty tidy and she has a lovely pedigree,” said Bell.
“I trained her sister Gull Wing, who was very useful but we hope Sariska can be a couple of notches better.
“We’re taking this route as we always thought she was a more an Oaks filly. She’s a big imposing filly and will be more comfortable going further.
“The form has worked out well from Newbury, although it’s difficult to compare her to fillies over seven furlongs, as it’s not her trip.
“We’re hoping for decent ground, anything good or easier will suit, so we’re keeping an eye on the forecast.”
Barry Hills’ impressive Newbury winner High Heeled, The Queen’s unbeaten Enticement, in training with Michael Stoute, and the Jim Bolger pair of Maidin Maith and Oh Goodness Me add strength in depth to the trial.
