Dubai delight for Beaver Patrol

Beaver Patrol gave Eve Johnson Houghton her second winner at this year’s Dubai Carnival when returning to form in the Meydan Business Park Trophy at Nad Al Sheba.

The seven-year-old bounced back from a disappointing run six days earlier to take the six-furlong heat in the hands of Mick Kinane.

The Irish ace had Beaver Patrol well positioned in third place on the turn for home before challenging the leader Lipocco over a furlong out.

Gaining the upper hand in the final half a furlong, the 9-1 shot went on to land a cosy success by a length and three-quarters. Lipocco held Nota Bene by a head for second spot.

“Brilliant, wasn’t it? I just don’t know what happened last time,” said Johnson Houghton, who sent out Judd Street to strike a week ago.

“For some reason for the most consistent horse in training he just didn’t run his race at all last time, but he loves it out there and it was really exciting.

“That’s it for him over there now.

“He’ll come home on March 10 – he’s done his bit.”
