Chepstow to check

Chepstow have called a precautionary inspection ahead of tomorrow’s meeting.

Clerk of the course Tim Long will assess conditions at 8.30am tomorrow due to the threat of frost.

He said: “We had been drying nicely yesterday and we were raceable by mid to late afternoon, but then we had quite a sharp frost last night with ground temperatures dropping to minus three.

“Temperatures are forecast to climb quite quickly today but it is due to drop to minus two or three again tonight.

“I think because the ground is so wet, the frost is biting more sharply but we have covered the vulnerable areas and will take a look in the morning.”
