Sedgefield fit for racing

This afternoon’s meeting at Sedgefield will go ahead as scheduled after the track passed an 8.30am inspection.

With a frost forecast overnight track officials decided to call a check just to be on the safe side.

And thankfully for the County Durham venue the track is fit for racing, despite conditions likely to be very testing.

“Racing goes ahead,” said clerk of the course Charlie Moore.

“It got down to minus one overnight which is what was forecast but it is already starting to come out of the ground and we’ll be fine. The going is soft, heavy in the back straight.

“With so many meetings lost recently it is a relief to be racing.”
