Story set for Leopardstown outing

Michael Hourigan plans to keep A New Story as busy as possible with an outing in the Pertemps Handicap Hurdle Qualifier at Leopardstown this Sunday.

Despite his regular appearances on the course, there has been no victory for the gelding since the Cork Grand National in late 2005.

Nonetheless he has placed in the likes of the Thyestes Chase, Irish National and Cross Country Chase at Cheltenham in the meantime.

His latest effort was an unthreatening 15th in the Paddy Power Chase at Leopardstown over Christmas.

“He’s going to run on Sunday.” said Hourigan.

“He’s a horse who saves a lot for himself and you have to just keep ahead of him. He could run there before going back to fences.”

Hourigan has Tom Doodle and Guts For Garters entered in the same race.
