Ryan Mania is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines after breaking his femur in a fall at Wetherby yesterday.

The conditional jockey parted company with the fatally injured Robin De Sherwood in the skysports.com/super6 Handicap Chase and his agent Richard Hale has confirmed that he will be out of action for some time.

“I think they are pinning his leg this morning and I would say that will mean three or four months out,” said Hale.

“It was a horrible fall and it is quite a bad break. It’s bad timing but having said that, there is never a good time for these things.”
