The British Horseracing Authority have received a formal appeal from Paul Blockley against his two-and-a-half-year disqualification.

The trainer has also applied for his penalty to be put on hold until the appeal hearing is held, and the BHA will consider this request tomorrow at 11am.

The trainer was last month warned off after the latest BHA investigation into alleged corruption.

Jockey Dean McKeown was also warned off for four years after a BHA disciplinary panel ruled he was part of a conspiracy to lay a number of Blockley-trained horses.

The BHA have not received a formal notification of appeal from McKeown’s representatives but were this evening contacted by his solicitor, who claimed to have been unaware of today’s deadline.

McKeown’s solicitor stated that the BHA will tomorrow be served with a notice of appeal.

The rider’s disqualification still comes into force as from tomorrow, however, when he is officially declared a disqualified person.
