It's Gino camp contest Arc placing

Connections of It’s Gino have appealed against the Longchamp stewards’ decision to name the German raider a dead-heat third in the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe.

Trainer Pavel Vovcenko is adamant the five-year-old entire held an advantage over Aidan O’Brien’s Soldier Of Fortune at the line, having closely analysed details of the photo-finish.

The Bremen-based handler, who has taken legal advice to aid his case, said: “I am very sorry to have had to pursue this affair after such a big race as the Arc.

“But I do have the habit of looking at photo-finishes.

“You cannot see it in the normal picture, but in the mirror image you can see he (It’s Gino) has finished third.

“We have decided to appeal.”

It’s Gino was being primed for the Japan Cup but has suffered a setback which will keep him on the sidelines for the rest of the year.

Vovcenko added: “The horse has sustained a little injury. He’s fine, but he’s still in France.

“I will be taking him home next Monday when I have a runner in Chantilly.

“He will not be running again until next year.”
