Honoria got the Aidan O’Brien yard back on the winning track with victory in the Listed Ardilaun Hotel Oyster Stakes at Galway this evening.

The daughter of Sadler’s Wells was sent off a 3-1 chance for the mile-and-half contest and Seamie Heffernan soon had her at the head of affairs.

She was taken on and headed by Jim Bolger’s Via Galilei some way out but was happy to track Kevin Manning’s mount before proving much the stronger off the turn for home, eventually scoring by three lengths.

Ghimaar, the 7-4 favourite, was another four and a half lengths back in third and never really got in a blow at the principals.

Heffernan said: “She stays and she is genuine. She is improving a little all the time. She keeps galloping and her heart is in the right place.”
