Officials at Chepstow have been forced to abandon Friday’s meeting due to a waterlogged track.

The venue was hit with almost 60 millimetres of rain from Monday night through to Tuesday and suffered further showers last night.

More rain this morning forced clerk of the course Tim Long to bring forward a planned Thursday inspection to 12pm today and he has been forced to draw stumps with the situation deemed untenable.

“We had that further heavy downpour of 10 millimetres this morning and that just pushed us over the brink,” said Long.

“We have no chance of being fit to race by Friday so unfortunately, we’ve abandoned the meeting.”
