Cheka camp issue going concern
Eve Johnston Houghton expressed ground concerns for The Cheka ahead of the Group Three Tattersalls Millions Acomb Stakes at York on Tuesday.
The Xaar colt was most impressive on his debut when he quickened away from subsequent winner Pegasus Lad to record a 10-length victory at Ascot.
“His form is in the book and he was impressive on debut on what was described as good to soft ground at Ascot – but it wasn’t all that soft,” said Johnson Houghton.
“Heavy ground at York would be a real concern but we’ll take him up there and have a look before we decide to run or not.
“He would probably go on the ground, but I don’t want to bottom him out this year.
“He’s a lovely big horse and he’s very laid-back, so he’s a very exciting prospect.”
