Hughie Morrison reports Stimulation to be in top form as he prepares to line up in the CGA Hungerford Stakes at Newbury this weekend.

The son of Choisir took the European Free Handicap at Newmarket on his seasonal bow and has since performed admirably in Group company, most recently going down by just a neck to Paco Boy in the Betfair Cup at Glorious Goodwood.

Both are among the 27 entries remaining in Saturday’s Group Two contest at the five-day stage and Morrison has his sights set on the race.

“We were delighted with his run at Goodwood and the plan is to run him on Saturday,” said Morrison.

“Various advisors are saying drop him to six and others are saying try him at a mile but he is doing fine over seven at the moment.

“We have been very happy with him since his last run and he should give a good account of himself this weekend.”

Among his potential rivals for Saturday’s race are Major Cadeaux, third behind Henrythenavigator in Sussex Stakes last time, and Bunbury Cup hero Little White Lie.

Peter Chapple-Hyam is currently double-handed with Al Qasi and Winker Watson, while Aidan O’Brien has four to choose from including Astronomer Royal and US Ranger.

Il Warrd is one of five possibles for Saeed bin Suroor and Godolphin, while Racer Forever and Arabian Gleam are also names worthy of note.
