Moore set for War Artist call-up
James Eustace is hoping Ryan Moore is available to partner War Artist in the Coolmore Nunthorpe Stakes at York next week.
The South African import has been placed in the Duke Of York Stakes, the Golden Jubilee and the July Cup but has still to win a race in this country.
He has been partnered by Kerrin McEvoy in his last four races but his departure back home to Australia means Eustace is looking for a new jockey.
“I have no claim on him but if Ryan Moore was available, which is possible, he has ridden him before and I’d be delighted if he could ride him,” said Eustace.
“I would look that way first and then play it by ear after that really.
“He’s in the Nunthorpe and the Sprint Cup at Haydock but we’ll just wait and see what the ground is at York before making a final decision.
“I don’t think he’d want it soft but we don’t know for sure, but on the other hand he is unlikely to be as good on soft.
“We are aiming for the Nunthorpe though and we’ll see what happens.
“I think we are seriously thinking of going for some of the Global Sprint Challenge races so Melbourne or Hong Kong or both, rather than the Breeders’ Cup.
“We have ruled out Japan because logistically they won’t let him into Australia direct from Japan so the logical thing to do is go to Australia and then on to Hong Kong.
“He deserves a big one because he is so consistent for a sprinter.”
