Masaalek favourite for mile
Masaalek has been promoted to favouritism with the sponsors for Friday’s totesport Mile at Glorious Goodwood.
With high numbers seemingly favoured at the Sussex venue, Marcus Tregoning’s colt is the 13-2 market-leader from 10-1 after being drawn in gate 19 of the 20 runners.
Britannia Stakes hero Fifteen Love is drawn widest of all and has been cut to 9-1 from 14-1, while the Barry Hills-trained Huzzah, who breaks from gate 16, is 16-1 from 25-1.
David Nicholls is double-handed with Royal Power and Regal Parade, while Richard Fahey also has two chances with Fishforcompliments and Extraterrestrial.
Gold Sovereign represents Godolphin, while Mark Johnston, who has decided against running Saturday’s totesport International winner Laa Rayb, will saddle Dubai’s Touch.
Military Cross made a winning return to action at Salisbury in June but Luca Cumani is pessimistic about his chances after the five-year-old was handed a low draw.
“He’s drawn five and I think that’s put paid to his chances,” said the Newmarket handler.
