Clowance team plot Leger bid
Connections of Clowance are eyeing a Classic rematch with their Juddmonte Oaks conqueror Look Here in the Ladbrokes St Leger.
Clowance was beaten nine lengths by Ralph Beckett's charge at Epsom but owner Barry Hurley believes his filly, trained by Roger Charlton, was unsuited by the track.
"We're really hoping to go for the St Leger next with her," he said.
"She'll stay all day and if it was lucky enough to be a bog, I think she'd go very close to winning something like that.
"I'd be absolutely dying for that rematch because I don't think she was suited by Epsom. Look Here is a small filly and was really suited by Epsom and we palpably weren't.
"The St Leger is two extra furlongs and a normal flat track. I think it will be quite interesting to see which one would be best on the day.
"She was staying all the way to the line at Epsom. She finished reasonably strongly into fourth going past horses like Lush Lashes and co.
"I think she is a much better filly than you saw at Epsom."
Clowance was forced to miss the Lancashire Oaks earlier this month due to a late setback but has now fully recovered.
"She was found to be lame it was nothing too serious luckily. She's sound and walking again," he added.
Clowance is 50-1 with the sponsors for the St Leger at Doncaster on September 13.
Look Here is set to run in the Darley Yorkshire Oaks at York on August 21 before any decision about Doncaster is made.
