Ryan seeking Sprint spoils
Kevin Ryan has had Saturday’s Weatherbys Super Sprint at Newbury in mind for Senor Mirasol for some time.
The Hambleton handler has targeted the valuable event for his unbeaten juvenile ever since he posted a stylish victory at Catterick in June.
Mark Johnston’s Effort was back in second that day and he went on to run a big race in the Windsor Castle at Royal Ascot.
“His form is solid and he’s done nothing wrong and we’ve waited with him especially for this race,” said Ryan.
“He’s in great form and I couldn’t be happier with him really.
“He’s an improving horse but you always have to be afraid of Richard Hannon in this race, it has been very good to him. He seems to target it with quite a few horses.
“But at the end of the day ours is going into the race unbeaten and the dream is still alive. He certainly deserves his place in the line-up.”
Hannon has six of the 23-runner field with Albany Stakes runner-up Penny’s Gift, ridden by Martin Dwyer, looking the pick of his team.
