Cadeaux to claim haydock honours

Major Cadeaux looks booked for Group Three glory in the JW Lees Stakes at Haydock tomorrow.

Formerly the John of Gaunt Stakes, the valuable seven-furlong heat should go the way of Richard Hannon’s charge as he stands head and shoulders above his rivals.

The four-year-old has turned in two good performances already this term, claiming minor honours on his seasonal debut in Ireland before scoring a Group Two success in the bet365 Mile at Sandown.

Major Cadeaux won with a little in hand that day and while he may not be quite Group One level, he may not even need to be at his best to land this contest.

Green Park is back at a winning mark and should prove too hot to handle in the National Express Scottish Sprint Cup at York.

The five-year-old’s last outing over course and distance should be forgotten as he reared up at the start when leaving the stalls.

Prior to that, Green Park ran really well at Chester and is off the same mark as when he struck at Newcastle last June.

Soapy Danger is taken to prove his Ascot run all wrong by winning the Stowe Family Law LLP Grand Cup.

Mark Johnston’s charge is a class act on his day and showed no ill effects from a protracted absence when scoring at Doncaster in March.

Things did not go so well on his return at Ascot, however, when he came home fourth. The soft ground unquestionably went against him on that occasion, while the ’bounce’ factor must also be attributed to the no-show.

Back over a shorter trip, expect a different Soapy Danger to turn up on the Knavesmire.

Artimino can make a triumphant seasonal bow at Doncaster.

Trained by James Fanshawe, the four-year-old struggled in soft ground at Newmarket on his last start in October.

He had previously shown really consistent form, however, and he is probably a little better than his current mark would suggest.

Better ground will obviously bolster his chances and he is reported to have made plenty of progress from three to four.

In light of his watertight form last term, few would begrudge Artimino victory in the Doncaster Free Press Business Monthly Handicap.

Bankable holds sporting claims of winning the feature race of the day at Goodwood.

The Listed On The House Stakes has been won by some smart sorts in recent years - most pertinently when Court Masterpiece did the business in 2005 – but this year’s renewal looks below-par.

That said, Bankable brings some pretty decent form to the table and should go well for the Luca Cumani team.

The Medicean colt looked the real deal when striding to success in an Ascot handicap, in which the soft ground clearly played to his strengths.

With conditions likely to be on the softer side of good in Sussex, Cumani’s four-year-old can carry on the good work by extending his winning run to four.

Cumani can enjoy a red-letter day if Muhajaar does what is expected of him in the Bathwick Tyres Maiden Stakes at Newbury.

The Cape Cross colt did well to take third place when squeezed for room at Haydock last June and is entitled to progress on only his second career outing.
