Racing on at Leicester
This afternoon’s meeting at Leicester will go ahead as planned after the course passed a morning inspection.
The final race on Monday’s card had to be abandoned due to a problem with one of the bends.
Rain falling on firmish ground caused a slippery surface and young rider Billy Cray emerged unscathed from a nasty fall.
It was a tricky situation for clerk of the course Jimmy Stevenson after the forecast rain failed to materialise and strong winds dried the ground even further.
But after eight millimetres of overnight rain, and watering of the problem area, the track was passed fit for racing.
“Racing goes ahead today,” said Stevenson.
“We had eight millimetres overnight and we’ve also watered the bend.
“The going on the round course is good, good to firm in places while on the straight course it is good to firm, good in places.”
