Aidan O'Brien keeping mum on Henrythenavigators next outing
Sometimes you just have to follow your gut instinct about winning racehorses. For the Master of Ballydoyle Aidan O'Brien his perseverance certainly paid off with Henrythenavigator, the latest star from his Tipp stable.
Ridden by Johnny Murtagh, the partnership are basking in the success of their winning combination to narrowly edged out hot favourite New Approach to win the 2,000 Guineas at Newmarket.
Henrythenavigator was 11-1, New Approach, ridden by Kevin Manning, was
11-8 and the third placed Stubbs Art 100-1 in the opening classic of the European season.
It was a victory by a nose as the post came in time for Henrythenavigator, giving O'Brien his fifth 2000 Guineas and Murtagh his second.
Speculation now centres on when the Newmarket winner will reappear and if it will be in the Irish equivalent as a primer for the 2008 Irish Derby at the Curragh.
Speaking at Horse Racing Ireland's Summer Flat Season launch at Dublin's Four Season's Hotel, O Brien wasn't giving much away about the next assignment, but did give an insight into how his persistence with Henrythenavigator paid off when others might have opted to give up on him.
