Turbo charged Swinbank sets sights on Newbury
Alan Swinbank could be double-handed in the John Porter Stakes at Newbury next week as both Turbo Linn and Alfie Flits are being aimed at the race.
Star mare Turbo Linn, who progressed from the bumper ranks to win at Group Two level, has not been seen since disappointing in the Park Hill Stakes at Doncaster.
Alfie Flits, another who started life in National Hunt Flat races, finished third in the Curragh Cup last June but has been sidelined with a minor problem.
“You’ll see Turbo in the John Porter next and if all goes well there she’ll go for the Braveheart Stakes at Hamilton,” said Swinbank.
“I was gutted she got beat in the Park Hill but she has still won eight out of nine so you can’t be too disappointed.
“There was nothing wrong with her but I think it was just a case of trying to do too much too soon.
“Also she is a mile-and-a-half horse, she wants no further really.
“Alfie will go to Newbury, too. Kieren Fallon rode him in the Curragh Cup and he said when he got off there was something wrong and we discovered a little back problem.
“I need to find out how good he is because we don’t really know yet, is he a Group horse or a handicapper?”
Swinbank also revealed that A Touch Of Irish, third in the Aintree bumper last week, will be heading over to the Punchestown Festival.
