Seb Sanders faces a trip to British Horseracing Authority headquarters at Shaftesbury Avenue after falling foul of the whip rules at Lingfield.

The rider, who shared the 2007 jockeys’ championship with Jamie Spencer, was found to have used his whip with excessive frequency on Emperor Court as his mount went down by a head to Sri Kuantan in the Come Jumping Here On January 21st Maiden Stakes.

As Sanders has amassed 24 days of whip suspensions in the previous 12 months, he was automatically referred and faces a ban of 14 days plus extra days for the latest breach.
