Prosecution closes case against Fallon
The prosecution today closed its case against Kieren Fallon and five other men accused of a race-fixing scam.
After two months of calling witnesses, prosecutor Jonathan Caplan QC said he had finished his case.
Old Bailey judge Mr Justice Forbes sent the jury away until at least next Thursday.
He told the jurors: "We have now reached the stage where there are matters of law which I have to deal with.
"You will not be required at the earliest until Thursday of next week."
Fallon, a six-time champion jockey, and the other defendants are alleged to have plotted to stop 27 horses running on their merits so a betting syndicate could win money when they lost.
Jockeys Fallon (aged 42) formerly of Newmarket, Cambridgeshire, but now of Tipperary, Fergal Lynch (aged 29) of Boroughbridge, North Yorkshire, and Darren Williama (aged 29) of Leyburn, North Yorkshire, deny the charges.
Shaun Lynch (aged 38) of Belfast, Miles Rodgers (aged 38) of Silkstone, South Yorkshire, and Philip Sherkle (aged 42) of Tamworth, Staffordshire, also plead not guilty.
Rodgers also denies concealing the proceeds of crime. All the defendants are on bail.
