Solzen to swerve Carlisle
Alan King confirmed My Way De Solzen will not go to Carlisle for the Colin Parker Memorial Intermediate Chase on Sunday.
Last seasonâs Arkle Trophy hero is likely to wait for Haydockâs Betfair Chase or Huntingdonâs totesport.com Peterborough Chase â both on November 24 â in the hope of easier conditions.
With the ground set to ride too quickly for My Way De Solzen at the weekend, King wants the rains to arrive soon.
âWe always aim to have them ready for November so if it doesnât start raining in the next week or so Iâm going to get very frustrated,â he said.
âBut everyoneâs in the same boat and you just have to be patient.
âMy Way wonât go to Carlisle on Sunday and I just hope Exeterâs all right so we can get Voy Por Ustedes out in the Haldon Gold Cup on Tuesday.
âOtherwise itâs a job to find races for them as there are so few options for these horses.â
When asked if My Way De Solzen could now head straight to Haydock to take on Kauto Star without the benefit of a run, King said: âIt could be that, or we could come for the Peterborough.
âAlthough, if Voy Por didnât run at Exeter he might have to come (to Huntingdon) and thatâll be a real mess with jockeys as the races are on the same day.â
Reflecting on Monetâs Garden winning the Old Roan Chase, in which Kauto Star finished a close second conceding 14lb, King told Racing UK: âI thought the first and second had pretty hard races and that Exotic Dancer will be much more effective in a bigger field.
âI was certainly very pleased we werenât in it as My Way wouldnât have been ready for it at this stage of the season as heâs still carrying a bit of condition.â
