Channel bows out at top

Runaway Breeders’ Cup Turf winner English Channel has been retired following his seven-length success at Monmouth Park.

Owner James T Scatuorchio said: “I made a deal with this horse that this would be his last race.

“He is a very popular horse around here.

“He’s been very special to us. He was our socialiser – he took us all over the world and all over this country.”
