Geordie hungry like the wolf

Geordieland will continue his pursuit of a first victory in the care of Jamie Osborne in Sunday’s SIS Fenwolf Stakes at Ascot.

Since starting his spell with Osborne last summer, the grey has produced a number of fine performances in defeat, including chasing home Yeats in the Gold Cup at the Royal meeting.

Geordieland showed his high cruising speed again in the Doncaster Cup recently but flattened out to be beaten five lengths by the high-class Septimus.

He drops to Listed company for the two-mile event and his trainer said: “He’ll run on Sunday and this looks a good opportunity.

“He’s full of surprises, but I’d obviously love to win a race with him.”
