Bookmakers suspend Ascot market
Major bookmaking firms have suspended ante-post betting on Saturday’s Queen Elizabeth II Stakes at Ascot.
The decision appears to have been taken following rumours concerning the participation of likely favourite George Washington.
Explaining the current situation, VC Bet’s Neal Wilkins said: “We took the decision to suspend betting on the QEII at 11.20am on Wednesday morning after doubts were raised about the participation of one of the leaders in the market.”
Stan James took the decision to remove the Aidan O'Brien-trained George Washington from their market and offer revised prices on the race.
Prix du Moulin heroine Darjina has been promoted to favouritism at 9-4 with the Wantage firm, who have Godolphin’s Ramonti next best at 5-2 in their reformed market.
Excellent Art, a stablemate of George Washington, is the 11-4 third favourite.
