Yahrab on Royal Lodge trail

Yahrab is set to bid for Juddmonte Royal Lodge Stakes glory at Ascot on Saturday.

The Dalakhani colt has won one of his three starts and was last seen when running a fine third to subsequent Champagne Stakes victor McCartney in a Salisbury Listed race.

That event was run over a mile, so trainer Clive Brittain harbours no fears about the Royal Lodge trip.

“I’m speaking to the owner tonight, but he is almost certain to run on Saturday,” he said. “He will get the mile and he will get it well.

“It was a good race he ran in last time and he didn’t really get into it until late on, but he has gone the right way since.”

Brittain could be represented by Wadlia in the Meon Valley Stud Fillies’ Mile.

The daughter of Lemon Drop Kid has not been seen on a racetrack yet and would be making her debut at the highest level should she line up.

“We haven’t made up our minds if she will run yet,” Brittain added.

“It would be a tough ask, but she’s a really nice filly and is going the right way, so we can see what she can do.”
