Chivalry comes of age at the Curragh

John Oxx is tipping a bright future for Age Of Chivalry, who broke her duck at the third attempt in the T.P. Waters Chrysler Jeep EBF Maiden at the Curragh.

Only two horses ever got into the five-furlong dash, with the 8-13 favourite sitting just inside La Sylvia as the pair started to draw further and further clear.

But Plantation Stud’s Age Of Chivalry, a decent second on both her previous runs and a fine stamp of a filly, asserted under Fran Berry in the final furlong to pull a length and a half clear.

“We were worried about the ground as she has run on soft before and handled it well, but she got over the firmer ground OK,” said Oxx.

“She’s a nice speedy filly and I’d like to find a stakes race next, but there aren’t many in this country left. She’ll be competitive in good events next year.”
