Chinese cracker for Weld

Chinese White went in many notebooks at Leopardstown with an effortless all-the-way triumph in the Cara Hotels Group EBF Fillies Maiden.

Pat Smullen enjoyed an armchair ride aboard the daughter of Dalakhani, who stretched clear along the straight to record a six-length romp from Carbonia.

Winning trainer Dermot Weld said of the 7-2 shot: “I said from the start of the year that we have a very smart bunch of two-year-olds and she’s one of them.

“She will run once again this year in a Stakes race somewhere and she definitely wants a mile already.

“She’s already shown plenty and will make a nice staying filly next season.”

As a consequence, Blue Square gave a first show of 16-1 about Chinese White winning next year’s Stan James 1000 Guineas.

Ladbrokes were similarly impressed and go 20-1 about her landing the Epsom Oaks.
