Peerless Fawn wins Darley Yorkshire Oaks
Peeping Fawn completed a four-timer of Group One victories in majestic style in the Darley Yorkshire Oaks at York.
Aidan O’Brien’s filly powered into the lead two furlongs out for Johnny Murtagh and went well clear.
The 4-9 shot won by four lengths from Allegretto (9-1), with Trick Or Treat (66-1) another five lengths away in third.
Trick Or Treat took the seven runners along from in the early stages from Allegretto and Dalvina.
There was little change as they made their way down the long straight until Murtagh brought his mount with a smooth run to easily hit the front.
And Peeping Fawn, winner of the Pretty Polly Stakes, Irish Oaks and Nassau Stakes, went away unchallenged in what was her 10th start of the season.
Allegretto improved on her third in this race 12 months ago, while Trick Or Treat ran the race of her life to hang on to third place.
Ribblesdale Stakes winner Silkwood was a big disappointment, finishing sixth of the seven starters.
