Showjumper Jessica Kurten has confirmed that one of her top horses has tested positive for a banned substance.

The world number four denied giving anything to the horse.

Jessica Kurten confirmed the positive drugs test while competing at the European Showjumping Championships in Mannheim in Germany.

The sample had been taken from Castle Forbes Maike in May this year.

However, Kurten denies giving the mare anything to boost her performance. She also said that she was unfamiliar with the name of the prohibited substance which is listed on the official notification from the International Equestrian Federation.

Under FEI rules, Kurten has the right to request analysis of the horse's B sample - if that tests positive the case will be heard by the FEI and Kurten could face suspension.
