Indian Ink to enjoy short rest

Coronation Stakes winner Indian Ink may not be seen in action again until the Prix de l’Opera at Longchamp in October.

Richard Hannon’s filly spreadeagled a top-class field in last month’s Group One feature at Royal Ascot, defeating the British, Irish, French and German 1000 Guineas winners – namely Finsceal Beo, Darjina and Mi Emma – by a staggering six lengths.

She was not declared for this weekend’s Prix d’Astarte at Deauville and Richard junior, Hannon’s son and assistant said: “It was never the plan to run there.

“At the moment she is having a break and the plan is to run her on Arc day at Longchamp. I think the race is the Prix de l’Opera.”

Indian Ink, who is owned by Raymond Tooth, has now won over £420,000 in prize money thanks to victories as a two-year-old in a valuable Ascot sales race and the Cheveley Park Stakes.
